Capstone Project -
Remote Monitoring of Cardiac Patients

For my fourth year design project, my team and I are improving a prototype for a remote monitoring system of discharged cardiac patients.  The system gathers biometric data from an ECG patch monitor, which transmits the data to an Android app and web application for both the patient and physician's review.  The purpose of the system is to indicate early warning signs of sepsis, or blood poisoning, which is a leading cause of deaths in the ICU.  The system is to be updated for clinical trials expected in 2017 for internal UVA medical use.

Human Factors and User-Centered Design

Samples of projects are provided below, focusing on Human Factors and general computer-based systems.  Three note-worthy examples are the Remote Monitoring of Cardiac patients, an Android app and UI designs for various projects.
Various UI Designs

In previous courses, such as Human-Machine Interface, user interface designs were created.  Some of the projects included: Hoo Left the Lights On (see Mechanical and Electrical Systems); wireframes and flow diagrams for a blood glucose measurement process for nurses; and an Independent Research Study simulating the convergence of multiple agents controlled by differential equations.

Android Application -
Ghost Hunter

In Advanced Software Methods, I along with a small team of computer engineers built an Android application for a game called GhostHunter.  The game utilized GPS to track the location of the user and the "ghosts", which the user must fight with specific features in the game.  The application was set by a countdown sequence to give the user a limited time frame in which to earn points.
